The Modern-Style Kitchen Includes Italian custom-made cabinetry, electrically operated, new custom-made pantries, granite backsplash, wood flooring and granite countertops. The kitchen island combined exotic quartzite and accent wood countertops. Appliances included: built-in refrigerator with custom hand painted glass panel, wolf appliances, and amazing Italian Terzani chandelier.

The homeowners started by hiring an architect to develop a vision and plan for transforming their very traditional brick home into a contemporary family home full of modern updates. The Kitchen Studio of Glen Ellyn was hired to provide kitchen design expertise and to bring the vision to life. The bamboo cabinetry and white Ceasarstone countertops provide contrast that pops while the white oak floors and limestone tile bring warmth to the space. A large island houses a Galley Sink which provides a multi-functional work surface fantastic for summer entertaining. And speaking of summer entertaining, a new Nana Wall system — a large glass wall system that creates a large exterior opening and can literally be opened and closed with one finger – brings the outdoor in and creates a very unique flavor to the space. Matching bamboo cabinetry and panels were also installed in the adjoining family room, along with aluminum doors with frosted glass and a repeat of the limestone at the newly designed fireplace. The island in this French inspired kitchen is the real star of the show. Sandblasted white oak and a more furniture-like structure gives it real presence in the room. The rest of the kitchen is about the old world feel of gray cabinetry, marble (counters and backsplash tile). Simple open shelving at one end holds cookbooks and the coffee center accoutrement. The clients imagined a rock house with cut stone accents and a steep roof with French and English influences; an asymmetrical house that spread out to fit their broad building site. We designed the house with a shallow, but rambling footprint to allow lots of natural light into the rooms. The interior is anchored by the dramatic but cozy family room that features a cathedral ceiling and timber trusses. A breakfast nook with a banquette is built-in along one wall and is lined with windows on two sides overlooking the flower garden.

We reconfigured several spaces in this home to create one very large kitchen area. We love how bright and airy the space is. Custom cabinetry allowed our clients to personalize their kitchen.

A custom color painted island complements the cherry cabinetry on the perimeter of the kitchen.

The kitchen & living room swapped spaces during the renovation & the fireplace was entirely removed in the interest of maximizing floor space. The reconfiguration gave the kitchen much needed breathing room & also accommodated a cozy dining nook. In the renovated family room, a new gas fireplace is flanked by built in bookcases that maximize functional storage and modern style.

old stone cottage with contemporary steel cabinets and concrete countertops. old butcher block built into steel cabinetry. This 120 year old one room stone cabin features real rock walls and fireplace in a simple rectangle with real handscraped exposed beams. Old concrete floor, from who knows when? The stainless steel kitchen is new, everything is under counter, there are no upper cabinets at all. Antique butcher block sits on stainless steel cabinet, and an old tire chain found on the old farm is the hanger for the cooking utensils. Concrete counters and sink.
