These terrific clients turned a boring 80's kitchen into a modern, Asian-inspired chef's dream kitchen, with two tone cabinetry and professional grade appliances. An over-sized island provides comfortable seating for four. Custom Half-wall bookcases divide the kitchen from the family room without impeding sight lines into the inviting space. This contemporary kitchen plays with colour and texture, featuring a bronze fish scale tile, contrasted with a statement navy blue tongue & groove patterned island.

Most people would relate to the typical floor plan of a 1980's Brick Veneer home. Disconnected living spaces with closed off rooms, the original layout comprised of a u shaped kitchen with an archway leading to the adjoining dining area that hooked around to a living room behind the kitchen wall. The client had put a lot of thought into their requirements for the renovation, knowing building works would be involved. After seeing Ultimate Kitchens and Bathrooms projects feature in various magazines, they approached us confidently, knowing we would be able to manage this scale of work alongside their new dream kitchen. Our designer, Beata Brzozowska worked closely with the client to gauge their ideals. The space was transformed with the archway wall between the being replaced by a beam to open up the run of the space to allow for a galley style kitchen. An idealistic walk in pantry was then cleverly incorporated to the design, where all storage needs could be concealed behind sliding doors. This gave scope for the bench top to be clutter free leading out to an alfresco space via bi-fold bay windows which acted as a servery. An island bench at the living end side creates a great area for children to sit engaged in their homework or for another servery area to the interior zone. Flavin Architects was chosen for the renovation due to their expertise with Mid-Century-Modern and specifically Henry Hoover renovations. Respect for the integrity of the original home while accommodating a modern family’s needs is key. Open galley kitchen that is perfect for entertaining. Co-ordinating layered light fixtures all have crystal aspects. The stone/glass mosaic tile backsplash gives the space a little glitter above and below the cabinets. Porcelain tile floor is elegant and rugged. This spacious kitchen with beautiful views features a prefinished cherry flooring with a very dark stain. We custom made the white shaker cabinets and paired them with a rich brown quartz composite countertop. A slate blue glass subway tile adorns the backsplash. We fitted the kitchen with a stainless steel apron sink. The same white and brown color palette has been used for the island. Contemporary kitchen remodeling with blue stained cabinets in Old Town Alexandria VA. Wall between kitchen and dining area was removed to expand the kitchen. White engineered quartz and mosaic backsplash tiles and gray porcelain floor tiles contras with blue cabinetry.

Now in the centre of the open space, the new Amara kitchen island features a beautiful waterfall edge, a two-seat casual dining bar and a front panel with Tasmanian oak, a recurring theme that created warmth throughout the entire home. The island front neatly matches the custom-made open shelves and flooring as well as fixtures in the bathroom, laundry and study nook. Also in Amara, the back bench has a sufficient work area for cooking prep with an integrated induction cooktop and perfectly laid kit kat mosaic tile splashback, the same one used in the laundry room. The colors from the wallpaper are repeated in the green paint and blue Ann Saks tile. This boldness is balanced by the sleek white Ikea cabinets, countertops and stainless steel hardware. This galley kitchen was remodeled using grey wood finish cabinets with gloss finish. Porcelanosa mirror and porcelain micro brick mosaic is used on the back splash areas. A new curved glass and stainless steel ventilatin hood was added, smooth top electric range and new ovens, microwave and dishwasher replaced the original equipment. A zero radius large sink with single handle faucet and pull out also helped to make the original galley kitchen more user friendly. Blizzard White Caesarstone quartz counter tops were installed to offset the grey cabinets and engineered ministrip grey wood flooring. A pair of exposed rail, rolling turquoise doors with frosted glass lites close off the kitchen area when entertaining.
