We wanted to design a kitchen that would be sympathetic to the original features of our client's Georgian townhouse while at the same time function as the focal point for a busy household. The brief was to design a light, unfussy and elegant kitchen to lessen the effects of the slightly low-ceilinged room. Jack Trench Ltd responded to this by designing a hand-painted kitchen with echoes of an 18th century Georgian farmhouse using a light Oak and finishing with a palette of heritage yellow. On estate acreage near Montpelier, this home was inspired by a Southern Living farmhouse vernacular design brought to the architect by the owner. With South Carolina architect, Wayne Crocker, and a Texas client, Virginia based Smith & Robertson was pre-selected as the builder and collaborated with landscape architect Buddy Spencer to create this estate quality masterpiece. What a transformation! From dated kitchen to modernized farm house! We cleaned this space up with a combination of shaker white painted cabinetry and onyx stained island. The luxurious center piece of Cambria Quartz on the island is off-set by the honed perimeter countertops pull this space together by combining colors from the rock fireplace, slate floors and chevron marble backsplash.

A 1960's bungalow with the original plywood kitchen, did not meet the needs of a Louisiana professional who wanted a country-house inspired kitchen. The result is an intimate kitchen open to the family room, with an antique Mexican table repurposed as the island.

This large kitchen in a converted schoolhouse needed an unusual approach. The owners wanted an eclectic look – using a diverse range of styles, shapes, sizes, colours and finishes. The final result speaks for itself – an amazing, quirky and edgy design. From the black sink unit with its ornate mouldings to the oak and beech butcher’s block, from the blue and cream solid wood cupboards with a mix of granite and wooden worktops to the more subtle free-standing furniture in the utility. This is actually a room for to process the fruit and nuts picked on the ranch- not really a kitchen! Rustic custom made and handscraped alder cabinets. Stained medium brown with a dark glaze coat. Kohler sink sets into one solid, thick piece of sycamore slab wood counter. This was custom made by a local craftsman. Random stone slate floor, handpainted glazed tile backsplash with metal tile inserts. This rustic working walnut ranch in the mountains features natural wood beams, real stone fireplaces with wrought iron screen doors, antiques made into furniture pieces, and a tree trunk bed. All wrought iron lighting, hand scraped wood cabinets, exposed trusses and wood ceilings give this ranch house a warm, comfortable feel. The powder room shows a wrap around mosaic wainscot of local wildflowers in marble mosaics, the master bath has natural reed and heron tile, reflecting the outdoors right out the windows of this beautiful craftman type home. The kitchen is designed around a custom hand hammered copper hood, and the family room's large TV is hidden behind a roll up painting. Since this is a working farm, their is a fruit room, a small kitchen especially for cleaning the fruit, with an extra thick piece of eucalyptus for the counter top.
