With two three-seat sofas in a cozy gray fabric, we've given the clients plenty of space to comfortably spread out. To define the space and tie its color palette altogether, we chose an oversized blue and cream wool area rug in a whimsical flourished pattern.

The stacked stone fireplace surround is the focal point for this family room....and rightfully so...it is gorgeous. Also flanking the fireplace are built in cabinets, perfect for storing favorite books, games, DVD's and, of course, a smart TV. A great set-up for summer guests at the beach!

living room. This room was formerly a large, tiled space painted a dark shade of green. The light barely peeked in and when it did, it hardly was noticed as it did not bounce off the walls or move about the space. Here we combined vintage, French Country and Shabby Chic to create a stunning and functional Family Room. A vintage stereo cabinet was secured at a local auction, deconstructed and converted into a functional and beautiful media stand. Do you love Shabby Chic? White - on - White? French Country? One of the most challenging spaces to design is the alcove under the stairs. My client came to me with exactly this; she wanted to take out the original and dated built-in cabinetry, but didn't have any idea what to replace it with! Working off of the rustic style that already defined my client's home, I selected a zinc-top, raw wood "x" base console, and tucked two cube ottomans underneath to add depth to the alcove. Hanging a round iron mirror was the perfect solution to awkward space above which is created by the pitch ceiling. Lastly, layering a succulent, artwork, and some books creates balance with the lamp while adding texture and color.
