The exterior of this 3000 sf home features a low pitch roof with triangular columns on a stone base, adding interest to the expansive porch. The use of natural materials and bountiful windows gives this modern interpretation of craftsman style home an organic feel. Inside the rooms flow into one another, providing a timeless feel to the home. The high level of detailing throughout this home is designed to increase functionality with useful features such as built in cabinetry, coffered ceilings and custom mill work. Examples can be seen everywhere, including upstairs in the large master suite which includes a soaking tub that has a two-sided fireplace which can be seen from both the bedroom and bathroom and provides both beauty and purpose.

This view of the back of the house highlights how the paint colors come together. The crisp white helps define the shape of the house. At the same time, it subtly highlights the doors, staircase and window frame. The two blues create a sense of calm while at the same time harmonizing with the property’s trees and plants.

The clients indicated the existing colors were too heavy, "not them", and not "Capitol Hill". To carry the stone color of the first floor all the way up, that same color in paint was used for the second floor box bay window, and for the eyebrow arch above the third story window, as well as inside the carving above the third story window. With the rakeboards just below the roofline also lightened up, the stone color was use on the small raised accent "x" to the right side at the roofline. The carving on the box bay was detailed in only one color this time, the same white which was used for the window frames and door frame, creating an effect similar to white wrought iron. There are many wrought iron details on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. The meter box on the first floor was painted to blend into the stone, important when it was so close to the front door. The front door was painted a deeper blue that the upper stories. Lastly the wrought iron railings were also de-rusted and repainted. All work was expertly done by Tech Painting. Situated within a prestigious gated community, this substantial waterfront home pays homage to a British Colonial style of architecture combining formal design elements of the Victorian era with fresh tropical details inspired by the West Indies such as palms and pineapples. This family home has been designed and built with attention to every detail. The coffered ceilings involved three different cornice profiles, VJ infills, chandeliers on winches and a complex lighting plan. The wall panelling was custom made onsite by carpenters with a router and a table saw so that all joins were concealed and working perfectly to wall lengths and raking areas in the stair void. The grand double staircase is finished with a customised chippendale balustrade, painstakingly coated onsite by painters. The flooring includes grey ironbark herringbone parquetry with boarders to the foyer and living, with long boards to hall areas. The kitchen includes benchtops in White Fantasy quartzite with a lambs tongue edge profile and overhead doors with a hand made cross detail and LED backlighting. Due to the site conditions, the swimming pool required significant engineering with screw piers at 14.5m deep. The pool was finished with an 8 meter long acrylic window and tumbled travertine tiled surrounds in a French pattern. The detail involved with this project provided an opportunity for all trades involved to showcase their craftsmanship, creativity and problem solving skills.
