The compact subdued cabin nestled under a lush second-growth forest overlooking Lake Rosegir. Built over an existing foundation, the new building is just over 800 square feet. Early design discussions focused on creating a compact, structure that was simple, unimposing, and efficient. From SinglePoint Design Build: “This project consisted of a full exterior removal and replacement of the siding, windows, doors, and roof. In so, the Architects OXB Studio, re-imagined the look of the home by changing the siding materials, creating privacy for the clients at their front entry, and making the expansive decks more usable. We added some beautiful cedar ceiling cladding on the interior as well as a full home solar with Tesla batteries. The Shou-sugi-ban siding is our favorite detail. While the modern details were extremely important, waterproofing this home was of upmost importance given its proximity to the San Francisco Bay and the winds in this location. We used top of the line waterproofing professionals, consultants, techniques, and materials throughout this project. This project was also unique because the interior of the home was mostly finished so we had to build scaffolding with shrink wrap plastic around the entire 4 story home prior to pulling off all the exterior finishes. We are extremely proud of how this project came out!”

The Parkland House is located in an existing flood zone, and the spaces under the existing home and extension are at risk of flooding. Finishes throughout have been selected for their flood resilience, and the spaces have been designed with ease of recovery in mind. The permeable timber screens allow breezes to naturally ventilate the undercroft spaces, and in the event of a flood will allow water to freely exit the spaces.

Dieses Wohnhaus ist eines von insgesamt 3 Einzelhäusern die nun im Allgäu fertiggestellt wurden. Unsere Architekten achteten besonders darauf, die lokalen Bedingungen neu zu interpretieren. Da es sich bei dem Vorhaben um die Umgestaltung eines ganzen landwirtschaftlichen Anwesens handelte, ist es durch viel Fingerspitzengefühl gelungen, eine Alternative zum Leerstand auf dem Dorf aufzuzeigen. Durch die Verbindung von Sanierung, Teilabriss und überlegten Neubaukonzepten hat diese Projekt für uns einen Modellcharakter.

素直に敷地を読み解いていったら、明快なプランの住宅となりました。 この家には子供達がよく集まります。そしてよく似合います。 町家の路地・通り庭のような北側通路。古民家の厨子(つし:小屋裏のこと)のようなロフト。 その床でもある梁現しの大和天井。絞られた開口の暗めの室内から見る明るい外部。 少しでもこの家から何かを感じ取ってくれたらいいなと思います。 これからも町家改修･古民家改修に関わりながら､これからの日本の住まいを､模索していきたいと思います。

ご両親から受け継いだ土地での建替えである。 整然と開発された住宅地の一角。若いご家族らしく、黒のガルバリウム鋼板ですっきりとした外観。 庭にはご両親が大切にされていた松と蜜柑の木を残し、シンプルな外観を引き立てている。 バルコニー下の凹み部分には、アウトドア好きな施主が庭でバーベキューをしたり、アウトドアグッズを 洗って干したりする時に使用するシンクが置かれる予定
