We recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Suresh Kannan to design a modern, contemporary façade for his new residence in Madurai. Though Suresh currently works as a busy bank manager in Trichy, he is building a new home in his hometown of Madurai. Suresh wanted a clean, modern design that would reflect his family's contemporary sensibilities. He reached out to our team at Dwellist Architecture, one of the top architectural firms in Madurai, to craft a sleek, elegant exterior elevation. Over several in-depth consultations, we gained an understanding of Suresh's affinity for modern aesthetics and a muted color palette. Keeping his preferences in mind, our architects developed concepts featuring wood, white, and gray tones with clean lines and large windows. Richard Chivers www.richard chivers photography A project in Chichester city centre to extend and improve the living and bedroom space of an end of terrace home in the conservation area. The attic conversion has been upgraded creating a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. A new kitchen is housed inside the single storey extension, with zinc cladding and responsive skylights The brick and flint boundary wall has been sensitively restored and enhances the contemporary feel of the extension.

A semi-detached house with a separate garage was extended to provide storage, workshop and new bedroom accommodation. The garage was demolished to make way for the two storey extension. The exterior was clad in Scottish larch and facing brick to match the existing brickwork. However the roof and dormers were clad in natural zinc to contrast with the heavy concrete roof tiles on the house. Grant Bulloch Photography

The original facade that needed to be maintained under heritage law. To the right we have the new side of the duplex we built. Everything besides the three walls of the left buildings facade are virtually new.

A modern two storey extension to create an open plan dining kitchen that opens up to the rear garden combined with a "floating" timber clad bedroom above.

The new white stucco exterior stands out from its connected neighbour, and provides the perfect backdrop for shadows cast by the tree in front. While the original roofline is maintained, comparing the front porches of the two homes hints at the spatial reconfiguration within.

We have opened up the rear of this home to create an cosy open plan family space which includes the Kitchen, Dining and TV Area
