Zola European WindowsZola Windows now offers the American Heritage SDH, a high-performance, all-wood simulated double hung window for landmarked and other historic buildings. This replica-quality window has been engineered to include a lower Zola Tilt & Turn and a Fixed upper that provide outstanding performance, all while maintaining the style and proportions of a traditional double hung window.
Today’s renovations of historic buildings are becoming increasingly focused on achieving maximum energy efficiency for reduced monthly utilities costs and a minimized carbon footprint. In energy efficient retrofits, air tightness and R-values of the windows become crucial, which cannot be achieved with sliding windows. Double hung windows, which are very common in older buildings, present a major challenge to architects and builders aiming to significantly improve energy efficiency of historic buildings while preserving their architectural heritage. The Zola American Heritage SDH features R-11 glass and triple air seals. At the same time, it maintains the original architectural aesthetic due to its historic style, proportions, and also the clever use of offset glass planes that create the shadow line that is characteristic of a historic double hung window.
With its triple seals and top of the line low-iron European glass, the American Heritage SDH offers superior acoustic performance. For increased sound protection, Zola also offers the window with custom asymmetrical glazing, which provides up to 51 decibels (dB) of sound deadening performance. The American Heritage SDH also boasts outstanding visible light transmittance of VT=0.71, allowing for maximum daylighting. Zola’s all-wood American Heritage SDH is available in a variety of furniture-grade species, including FSC-certified pine, oak, and meranti.

Montana Timber Products: ranchwood™ product line in tackroom color with circle sawn texture in douglas fir for the siding. Bronze cedar from the AquaFir™ product line is used for trim, fascia, and soffits, using douglas fir wood and wire brushed texture.
Product Use: 1x8 channel rustic using ranchwood™ in tackroom color, 1x6 tongue and groove soffit in AquaFir™ bronze cedar color, two step fascia 2x10 and 1x6 in bronze cedar square edge material. Trim in various sizing all in bronze cedar: 1x4, 1x6, 1x12, 2x4, 2x6, 2x10, 3x12.
SPW IronworksMetal frame double gates with a timber in-fill. One of the requirements was not to have any visible fixings, this gives a very attractive appearance with no ugly bolt or screw heads to distract from the overall look. Another requirement was that one side could only open inwards while the other could only open outwards. All gaps are covered to prevent prying eyes and a good quality push button security lock was fitted. The timber was coated in an anti UV protective finish to stop the timber changing colour.

Millworks Construction Services, LLCA beautiful custom built duplex built with a view of Winter Park Ski Resort. A spacious two-story home with rustic design expected in a Colorado home, but with a pop of color to give the home some rhythm.
User"Cosmic Christmas", Marqueurs acrylique or, argent, blanc et bleu de la marque Molotow. Fresque réalisée sur l'ensemble des parties vitrées (côté rue et patio) de l'hôtel Renaissance Paris République (groupe Marriott), Paris, 2017.
Pour la petite histoire...il s'agit cette fois-ci d'une commande sur le thème Le Petit Prince (Antoine de Saint Exupéry), afin d'illustrer les fêtes de fin d'année et plus précisément de Noël.
Après discussions et décision de l'orientation du projet (Le Petit Prince, l'espace, les météorites...), j'ai décidé de m'inspirer et de créer ainsi également un parallèle avec l'exposition "Météorites, entre ciel et terre" (du 18/10/2017 au 10/06/2018) qui a lieu à la Grande Galerie de l’Évolution, aux Jardin des Plantes, afin de réaliser cette immense fresque délicate, intérieure et extérieure, qui se révèle au fil de la journée pour se dévoiler plus encore à la tombée de la nuit.

Zola European WindowsMcKeesport Downtown Housing, formerly a YMCA, is an 84-unit SRO for people at risk of homelessness. The old brick and terracotta building was important historically for McKeesport. The decision to design the project to Passive House criteria actually went a long way to making the pro-forma work. This project was the first large scale retrofit to be designed to meet Passive House Standards in the US. Another major concern of the project team was to maintain the historic charm of the building.
Space was at a premium and a reorganization of space allowed for making larger resident rooms. Through a community process with various stakeholders, amenities were identified and added to the project, including a community room, a bike storage area, exterior smoking balconies, single-user rest rooms, a bed bug room for non-toxic treatment of bed bugs, and communal kitchens to provide healthy options for food. The renovation includes new additional lighting, air-conditioning, make-up air and ventilation systems, an elevator, and cooking facilities. A cold-weather shelter, 60-day emergency housing, bridge housing, and section 8 apartment rentals make up the housing programs within the shelter. Thoughtful Balance designed the interiors, and selected the furniture for durability and resistance to bed bugs.
The project team worked closely with Zola Windows to specify a unique uPVC window that not only offers passive house performance levels at an affordable cost, but also harmonizes with the building’s historic aesthetic. Zola’s American Heritage SDH (simulated double hung) from the popular, budget-friendly Thermo uPVC line was specified for the project. The windows implemented in this project feature a lower tilt & turn window and a fixed upper for maximum airtightness and thermal performance. The implementation of these windows helped the project team achieve a very significant energy consumption reduction of at least 75%.
