This timeless kitchen is the perfect example of how rich color sets the mood. Inspired by Sherwin-Williams’ Dried Thyme, the green cabinetry brings a warm and contemporary look. The kitchen’s original layout is what attracted the owners to this home so with a few changes, the space now better fits the owners’ needs. Straightening out a wall by the large bay window provided space to move the dishwasher, and gave room to build a tall cabinet with organized pullout drawers next to the stove for easy access and storage. This also created room to build a hidden appliance garage and flipping the location of the island sink provided more accessibility to the stove. The bow front stove hood provides visual relief for the linear nature of the cabinets. Green ceramic tiles surround the porcelain herringbone tile in the contrasting niche dedicated to spices and oils, and the adjacent pot filler provides convenience. The island was increased in size to provide for more storage and metal domed pendants provide lighting for both prepping and eating. Double-wall ovens have side handles for easy opening and convenience and provide easy access in a busy kitchen area. Our Kelowna based clients were eyeing a Vancouver interior designer, although there were plenty of capable ones locally. When we enquired as to why, they said they wanted a unique style, so we set out on our journey together. The design was totally based on the client’s passion for cooking and entertaining – one of them being an introvert, the other being an extrovert. We decided to fit two islands in the available space, so we started referring to them as “the introvert island” and “the extrovert island”.

Brookhaven kitchen featuring the Colony door style on Oak with a Dove Grey finish. Cabinets go to the ceiling and are finished with a small top trim. The upper top cabinets are glass framed, all wall cabinets have recessed bottoms for under cabinet lighting. The cabinets over the sink have puck lighing and all appliances are stainless steel.

Create Good Sinks' 46" workstation sink. This 16 gauge stainless steel undermount sink replaced the dinky drop-in prep sink that was in the island originally. Cherry cabinets from previous owner's reno were retrofitted with new quartz countertops (Midnight Corvo in matte finish seen here on the island), new sinks and faucets. Island was extended from 5' to 11.5' and includes seating on one end. Walls were painted fresh white. Two Create Good Sinks "Ardell" faucets were installed with this sink to make it easy for two cooks in the kitchen.

Bar area is designed with large bookshelf storage for display of favorite are pieces and books. Bar storage is mainly located on wall cabinets with the base composed of two wine coolers. Wall cabinets have puck under cabinet lighting to illuminate the beautiful verde vecchio granite stone slab. Cabinets go to the ceiling and are finished off with a small crown treatment. The utility room was designed by surrounding the stacked washer and dryer and adding a thin, tall cabinet to the side for storage.

Two Create Good Sinks "Ardell" faucets were installed with this sink to make it easy for two cooks in the kitchen. Perimeter sink is Create Good Sinks 33" ledge workstation sink with "Bella" stainlees steel faucet.

This eclectic style kitchen, blends the old with the new beautifully. The cherry island, seating area, and base cabinets offset the cream colored upper cabinetry. The upper glass cabinets provide additional light and space for displaying favorite pieces. The tile backsplash was done in a soft green hue.

We did the whole project while they were still in SF so that they arrived to a finished space that was ready to live in! We went with a traditional look but layered in industrial and modern elements. We kept the big pieces neutral and brought in blues and greens in accents throughout.
