Previously, a window of frosted glass block punctuated the hallway. Unfortunately, it overlooked a perpetually dark courtyard and illuminated nothing. I changed this into an art installation of light. With its multiple settings, one can rotate through a selection of colors to wash the space in colored light, instantly changing the mood and feel of the space. The portal is seen here in lime green. Hand made custom Mahogany vanity system with slab style drawer faces and routed finger pulls. All drawers operate and are cut around plumbing in a "Horse Shoe" fashion. Privacy screen also from solid Mahogany.

Objectives and Challenges: Existing bathroom consisted of two small spaces. The client wished to create one open, airy space within the same foot print. Client desired a contemporary style bath with a touch of the East Coast Shore. Needed functional lighting and additional storage. Design Solution: Removal of wall between the vanity and the shower/toilet room with the repositioning of the toilet allowed the bathroom to become one open space. Contemporary style is achieved through the clean lines of the cabinetry and the large format floor tiles in combination with the glass tile. Additional storage was achieved through counter wall cabinets on each side of the sink, as well as, the connecting wall cabinet above the toilet. Design Features: Interesting form is seen in the clean lines of the thick counter top with the integral trough sink. The repetition of alternating strip glass tile in combination with the large rectangular floor tile repeats itself in the shower walls. Frosted glass is repeated in the Sliding door to the bathroom and the shower wall partition Medium tones of the cabinetry and floor tile contrast against the sea blue color of the hardware, glass tiles and paint color. The vanity has become the emphasis of the bathroom. A custom designed vanity with floating drawer cabinets, Flyover shelf with puck lights that matches the arched shape of the counter top. The decision to preserve this bathroom's original wood panel ceiling, complete with two sky lights, made the space more contemporary and unique. An intricate hanging chandelier is a more classical touch.

When these Canton, MA homeowners desired to upgrade their childrens’ bathroom, they were referred to Renovisions who were grateful to accept the task. The clients were unhappy with the existing cramped floor plan, lack of storage, old and drafty windows, outdated fixtures and overall lackluster aesthetic. Renovisions designed the new room to not only meet the client’s goals, but exceeded them abundantly. Mobility in the space was limited due to the door swing into the room. Renovisions recommended replacing the currenmt door with a pocket door in an arch-top beaded design to match the nearby bedroom doors, while also upgrading the hallway linen closet with new shelving and same styled door. Renovisions also increased the layout by borrowing space from the adjacent dining room. There is now more room for the handsome, quartered-mahogany wall-hung vanity with linen tower. Since the homeowners requested a contemporary look, the design team focused on choosing more modern products including a soaking tub, minimalistic square designed shower heads, tub filler, single lever faucet and a large rectangular sink. The white quartz countertop with wide veining and waterfall edge, along with the striking larger format subway tile finished with square edge chrome profiles contribute to the clean aethetic and modern appeal. From the sleek porcelain plank floor tile, new double-mulled Marvin casement windows and recessed lighting that provides just the right amount of light, the end result: a one-of-a-kind bathroom, a unique and modern ‘Revitalized Room’.

The new contemporary cabinetry was designed in the style of the clients' master bedroom furniture.
