The magnificent Villa de Martini is a Mediterranean style villa built in 1929 by the de Martini Family. Located on Telegraph Hill San Francisco, the villa enjoys sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island, Pier 39, the yachting marina, the Bay Bridge, and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. This exquisite villa is on a triple wide lot with beautiful European-style gardens filled with olive trees, lemon trees, roses, Travertine stone patios, walkways, and the motor court, which is designed to be tented for parties. It is reminiscent of the charming villas of Positano in far away Italy and yet it is walking distance to San Francisco Financial District, Ferry Building, the Embarcadero, North Beach, and Aquatic Park. The current owners painstakingly remodeled the home in recent years with all new systems and added new rooms. This home was office done by Weaver Design Group for the project of "Antiques in Modern Design". The walls are painted in a vibrant pink to offset the black and grey used in the consoles and lamps. The 17th century baroque gilt wood mirror gives weight to an otherwise light and airy room. The pair of Louis XV armchairs sit in front of a modern desk covered in a floral wallpaper. The shell consoles against the wall are wonderfully carved wooden consoles in the form of shells and can be used in a multitude of spaces such as a dining hall or an entrance room or anywhere one pleases. The statue of a lady from the Han dynasty period completes the feminine touch.

Seek hardware with a recognizable Craftsman-era embellishment. The key to creating an authentic Craftsman-styled kitchen is by embracing those details that embody hand-craftsmanship and hand-joinery. As a response to mass production and abundance of cheaply made goods, the craftsman design movement achieved prominence in the early 19900’s and recognized value in the work of the craftsman and artisan. The handiwork of the cabinetmaker was idealized, and an appreciation for quality and craftsmanship was celebrated. Homes of this period were designed with an open, airy floor plan and a central hearth or gathering area. Woodwork and cabinetry became architectural focal points in warm, wood tones and joinery techniques were prominently featured.
