In the master bathroom remodel, a spare bedroom was utilized to expand the bathroom footprint to include a full walk-in closet as well as a luxurious shower and commode. The blue tiles work so nicely with the newly designed kitchen remodel, making this 1950’s ranch into a contemporary and welcoming home for a social family.

This classic Tudor home in Oakland was given a modern makeover with an interplay of soft and vibrant color, bold patterns, and sleek furniture. The classic woodwork and built-ins of the original house were maintained to add a gorgeous contrast to the modern decor. Designed by Oakland interior design studio Joy Street Design. This Altadena home is the perfect example of modern farmhouse flair. The powder room flaunts an elegant mirror over a strapping vanity; the butcher block in the kitchen lends warmth and texture; the living room is replete with stunning details like the candle style chandelier, the plaid area rug, and the coral accents; and the master bathroom’s floor is a gorgeous floor tile. It’s always a blessing when your clients become friends - and that’s exactly what blossomed out of this two-phase remodel (along with three transformed spaces!). These clients were such a joy to work with and made what, at times, was a challenging job feel seamless. This project consisted of two phases, the first being a reconfiguration and update of their master bathroom, guest bathroom, and hallway closets, and the second a kitchen remodel. In keeping with the style of the home, we decided to run with what we called “traditional with farmhouse charm” – warm wood tones, cement tile, traditional patterns, and you can’t forget the pops of color! The master bathroom airs on the masculine side with a mostly black, white, and wood color palette, while the powder room is very feminine with pastel colors. When the bathroom projects were wrapped, it didn’t take long before we moved on to the kitchen. The kitchen already had a nice flow, so we didn’t need to move any plumbing or appliances. Instead, we just gave it the facelift it deserved! We wanted to continue the farmhouse charm and landed on a gorgeous terracotta and ceramic hand-painted tile for the backsplash, concrete look-alike quartz countertops, and two-toned cabinets while keeping the existing hardwood floors. We also removed some upper cabinets that blocked the view from the kitchen into the dining and living room area, resulting in a coveted open concept floor plan. Our clients have always loved to entertain, but now with the remodel complete, they are hosting more than ever, enjoying every second they have in their home. --- Project designed by interior design studio Kimberlee Marie Interiors. Esta es una planta multifuncional, no quisimos crear un dormitorio al uso ya que hubiéramos perdido todo el espacio tanto del dormitorio como de la terraza. En esta planta nos dimos cuenta que era necesario crear un aseo. Los invitados no se sentirían muy cómodo si tienen que invadir el espacio más privado e íntimo de los anfitriones cada vez que tienen que usar el baño. Mucho menos invadir su zona de descanso a altas horas de la madrugada, fue entonces cuando le dimos formas al aseo. Un aseo coqueto, funcional y abierto, se integra perfectamente con el espacio y no quisimos, un lugar claustrofóbico, ni tapiar la única ventana de la habitación y dejar está sin iluminación natural, con estos argumentos diseñamos un lugar multifuncional, con un magnifico sofá-cama que puede servir tanto como dormitorio de invitados, como despacho, zona de juegos o sala de estar……. Diseñamos un magnifico armario de suelo a techo para cubrir la necesidad del almacenamiento y dentro de este se colocó una pequeña nevera para tener bebida y comida fresca sin necesidad de tener que bajar a la cocina.
