Master bath remodeled for serenity In Palo Alto, a goal of grey water landscaping triggered a bathroom remodel. And with that, a vision of a serene bathing experience, with views out to the landscaping created a modern white bathroom, with a Japanese soaking tub and curbless shower. Warm wood accents the room with moisture resistant Accoya wood tub deck and shower bench. Custom made vanities are topped with glass countertop and integral sink.

The homeowners' dreamed of an Ofuro style soaking tub. We worked together to make that a reality. Our employees custom milled a surround of Ofuro cedar for the soaking tub. The steps are removable for cleaning and to lessen the occurrence of trapped moisture. The shelves are also custom cedar with a "fish scale" tile backing. A cedar shelf holds the mirrors. The vanity is floating with a toe kick light. The wood bench in the corner was custom made with a live edge from a tree from another job site. The tiled shower is sloped towards a curtain drain. The shower boasts a tiled bench, niche and wand with a rain shower head.

When our client wanted the design of their master bath to honor their Japanese heritage and emulate a Japanese bathing experience, they turned to us. They had very specific needs and ideas they needed help with — including blending Japanese design elements with their traditional Northwest-style home. The shining jewel of the project? It is taller and deeper and features a slightly elevated rim for improved neck and head support, as well as a convenient ergonomic built-in seat, allowing the body to comfortably emerge to maximum water capacity. The height of the True Ofuro Mini Japanese style soaking bathtub is substantially taller than the original True Ofuro bathtub, and therefore we recommend people who are shorter than 170cm also purchase our stylish teak wood step. Aquatica’s international industrial design team, used advanced CAD tools, modeling and repeated testing with real size prototype units so that we could reach the optimal balance between ergonomic comfort and visual appeal. Our AquateX™ material is the star in this Japanese soaking tub as it retains heat much longer and also has a silky and velvety surface. This bathtub is currently one of our most space conscious bathtubs at a size of 43" x 43" (1090x1090mm), making the freestanding and petite construction of this Japanese style bathtub easy to be installed in any sized bathroom.

220 Cottonwood has exquisite custom-laid tile, that was painstakingly placed to bring together natural elements such as riverstone and travertine with more modern touches, creating a very comfortable and approachable master bath.

With practical purpose in mind, the master bathroom was custom-designed with his and her floating vanities from Dura Supreme in sustainable bamboo. A functional above-counter storage tower eliminates the need to bend down for access. Complimenting the cabinets, we chose black hardware resembling a Japanese pagoda roof, Brittanica Gold Cambria countertops, and black and gold leaf vanity lights by Ferguson.
