To create the master suite this home owner dreamed of, we moved a few walls, and a lot of doors and windows. Essentially half the house went under construction. Within the same footprint we created a larger master bathroom, walk in closet, and guest room while retaining the same number of bedrooms. The second room became smaller but officially became a bedroom with a closet and more functional layout. What you don’t see in the finished pictures is a new utility room that had to be built downstairs in the garage to service the new plumbing and heating. All those black bathroom fixtures are Kohler and the tile is from Ann Sacks. The stunning grey tile is Andy Fleishman and the grout not only fills in the separations but defines the white design in the tile. This time-intensive process meant the tiles had to be sealed before install and twice after. All the black framed windows are by Anderson Woodright series and have a classic 3 light over 0 light sashes. The doors are true sealer panels with a classic trim, as well as thicker head casings and a top cap. We moved the master bathroom to the side of the house where it could take advantage of the windows. In the master bathroom in addition to the ann sacks tile on the floor, some of the tile was laid out in a way that made it feel like one sheet with almost no space in between. We found more storage in the master by putting it in the knee wall and bench seat. The master shower also has a rain head as well as a regular shower head that can be used separately or together. The second bathroom has a unique tub completely encased in grey quartz stone with a clever mitered edge to minimize grout lines. It also has a larger window to brighten up the bathroom and add some drama.

The client for this project sought a really on trend design, with multiple personal elements to be incorporated. In addition, lighting improvements were sought to maintain a light theme across both rooms. Design Elements Across the two bathrooms designer Aron was tasked with keeping both space light, but also including luxurious elements. In both spaces white marble tiles have been utilised to help balance natural light, whilst adding a premium feel. In the family bathroom a feature wall with herringbone laid tiles adds another premium element to the space. To include the required storage in the family bathroom, a wall hung unit from British supplier Saneux has been incorporated. This has been chosen in the natural English Oak finish and uses a handleless system for operation of drawers. A podium sink sits on top of the furniture unit with a complimenting white also used. Special Inclusions This client sought a number of special inclusions to tailor the design to their own style. Matt black brassware from supplier Saneux has been used throughout, which teams nicely with the marble tiles and the designer shower screen chosen by this client. Around the bath niche alcoves have been incorporated to provide a place to store essentials and decorations, these have been enhanced with discrete downlighting. Throughout the room lighting enhancements have been made, with wall mounted lights either side of the HiB Xenon mirrored unit, downlights in the ceiling and lighting in niche alcoves. Our expert fitting team have even undertaken the intricate task of tilling this l-shaped bath panel. Project Highlight In addition to the family bathroom, this project involved renovating an existing en-suite. White marble tiles have again been used, working well with the Pewter Grey bathroom unit from British supplier Saneux’s Air range. A Crosswater shower enclosure is used in this room, with niche alcoves again incorporated. A key part of the design in this room was to create a theme with enough natural light and balanced features. The End Result These two bathrooms use a similar theme, providing two wonderful and relaxing spaces to this High Salvington property. The design conjured by Aron keeps both spaces feeling light and opulent, with the theme enhanced by a number of special inclusions for this client. From the beginning you can see the colors inside this space pop. Like Jay says, you can coordinate or contrast when designing a space. Well we definitely coordinated perfectly I would say. Starting with the rich cinnamon stain on the alder wood cabinets that brings the warmth and depth, then moving to the porcelain tile of the shower, that has cool beige tones with hints of grey to match the brushed nickel hardware used throughout. This color palette definitely pleases the senses. The cabinetry utilizes raised panel doors and drawers, donned with brushed nickel hardware. Then we topped them with a stunning Taj Mahal quartzite natural stone. A four inch backsplash and undermount square sinks finish off the look as they sit below two brand new beveled glass mirrors. The shower definitely steals the show. Floor to ceiling 12x24 porcelain tile that perfectly mimics vein cut travertine. Moen Vass shower fixtures matching the faucets on the counter top were used in quite the varying degrees. We offered a rain shower head over head, a hand shower head that is adjustable in height and comes with its own multi-function spray head. A thermostatic valve, with a transfer valve as well. In the shower we also rebuild the shower bench seat utilizing the same Taj Mahal quartzite stone. The glass enclosure was cut perfectly to match the shape and function of the seat. The flooring has a 2x2 porcelain mosaic in the same series as the wall. Two functional grab bars, two niches, and a frameless shower enclosure that closes it all in stunningly. The flooring boasts the same 12x24 porcelain tile as the shower walls, in a matte finish laid in the same pattern and direction as the shower itself.
