Media Room Large comfortable sectional fronted by oversize coffee table is perfect for both table games and movie viewing – and when company is staying, the sectional doubles as two twin size beds. Drapes hide a full length closet for clothing and bedding – no doors required, so sound is absorbed and the area is free of the harshness of ordinary media rooms. You enter a spacious, bright room, the center of which is divided by a byobu, a light Japanese screen. The owner explains that the hall is multifunctional: on one side is his office with artwork and a niche for calligraphy tools; on the other is the living room where guests are received. And if they stay overnight, a couple of comfortable futons, traditional Japanese mattresses, are laid out here.

There is not a wee bit of superfluous decoration. At the first glance, outside the French window, it is a garden full of greeneries. The space is dominated by burlywood tone, clean and neat, and only the sketch of a Buddha statue shows a trace that it’s a painter's home. The designer perfectly presents the oriental simplicity returning to the real look and the way of spiritual practice seeing deeply into life. Walking in such a space, you will involuntarily slow down, just willing to take a rest here, as if the earth has nothing to do with you in an instant.

The owner talks about the interior of the "shoin-zukuri" or "study style" of the Japanese house, which originates from the design of the dwellings of Zen monks and samurai of the XV-XVI centuries. It can always be recognized by its characteristic "shoji" - sliding doors, as well as window and room partitions made of translucent sheets of rice paper in wooden frames. This is the first image that comes to mind when you think of Japanese interiors.
