Ballack Design + Architecture LLC is committed to the practice of architecture through a collaborative and disciplined process. I believe in designing spaces that are spirited and in harmony with its inhabitants. My design process involves a skilled collaboration between architect, client, engineers, consultants, and the construction industry to deliver a unified architecture which responds to form, function, detail and budget. Once we find the “heart” of a project early on, we collaborate to develop simple, pure solutions that reinforce it. My practice endeavors to investigate and focus on every detail throughout a project. My unique background in architecture, interior design and construction management drives each project to its fullest potential. I believe this multi-disciplined approach is vital to creating successful architecture with vigor and integrity. My past work includes buildings of various scales, architectural styles, programs and budgets for a diverse group of clientele. My unique design capabilities and extensive resources allow me to design and develop both the exteriors and interiors of a project to create an integrated architecture. I remain devoted to the practice of architecture in the design of buildings, interiors and landscapes to ensure the realization of unified projects.

John Ballack is a true gem, bringing a high level of integrity, professionalism, and talent to each of his projects. As a professional interior designer, I’ve worked with many architects, and John is by far the best. He truly listens to the clients’ needs, and thinks outside of the box to present solutions that are creative, in the best interest of the client and the project as a whole. He has a varied repertoire of talent and always amazes me with his knowledge. I also love how John has a thirst for knowledge and if there’s something he doesn’t know, he will search high and low to find the answer. John and I have collaborated on several projects together, and our working sessions are always fun, inspiring, and result in an incredible projects for our shared clients. A working relationship with John is a true partnership where egos are out of the way and the client is at the center - exactly the way it should be. John can’t help but let his passion for architecture shine through, and each client we’ve shared has remarked to me what a “cool guy” he is and how he “geeks out” on architecture in the best way. In addition to John’s exemplary creativity and superior problem solving ability, his technical skills are remarkable as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire John for my own home, and if you’re looking for the very best for your project, then John is a must hire.

John at Ballack design swooped in to rescue my project plans. I had been working with another architect on a new residential building but it just seemed that the exterior was off and then John was recommended to help review the drawings. He listened to me and was able to translate my wishes into a beautiful exterior plan. He identified the issues in the existing drawings and recommended fixes for them going above and beyond. I highly recommend him.

John has truly been a savior with remodeling our new home. When we first purchased the home we wanted to renovate the majority of it but didn’t know where to start & was on a time crunch. John has cut the original time to finish the home in half! He has totally made this home renovation both a pleasure and very seamless (which has reduced so much stress). He’s very detailed and so patient when it comes to us making decisions. He’s very invested in your vision and truly brings it to life. He’s actually made this process fun! Honestly cannot sing his praises enough. Can’t wait to share the work that he’s done in our new home soon!

Ballack design company was recommended to us by previous business contact with a high rating. We called John and requested him to meet with us on designing our basement project. John was very in tune with our vision and provided some great ideas and guidance with the design. Once completed we were very impressed and pleased with the final design. Johns efforts captured our vision in greater detail than we imagined. I would recommend John to friend for any other future projects.

5 stars is not near enough to give John. He was our 3rd architect (3rd times a charm is for sure) we hired to design our dream home. We are building a house with a hangar in a strict neighborhood but John nailed it every time with design, rules & regs, and everything in between. Not only is he funny and easy to get along with, but his attention to detail is unimaginable. He has the expertise of a designer, architect and builder all in one so you get the best of everything when working with him. He will tell you from the beginning, “if you don’t like it - tell me. It your house, not mine and it has to be perfect for you” and he truly means that. He loves what he does and it shows in every aspect of the process. He’s excited during each step and treats the projects as if they are his own. I don’t intend to ever build another house after this, as this is our forever home, but I will recommend him to anyone and everyone that’s willing to listen. I can promise you, after trying to work with 2 other architects in the Frankfurt/Homer Glen area, John is the ONLY architect you need to meet with. Our only regret is not finding John sooner.

I recently purchased a condo and am doing a complete renovation. Despite having a very bizarre floor plan, John managed to come up with some really great ideas and I'm really pleased with the end result. My wife and I have engaged Ballack Design & Architecture (BD&A) to design our new home. In this regard, BD&A has demonstrated exceptional talent, creativity, professionalism and commitment to ensure the highest quality outcome on behalf of the client. Therein, we have observed several circumstances where BD&A has gone above and beyond what is typical and expected, all with an eye toward achieving the best outcome. This has spanned all facets of construction, from zoning/code advisory, to consultation on best available materials to be utilized, to the guidance around the ultimate budget considerations. We could not be more pleased with our choice in BD&A. As an aside, we had bid out the project to several builders and many subcontractors. All were very complimentary of the level of thoughtfulness, and detail that was presented within the bid drawings. There was nothing left to chance as one builder noted. As such, we would highly recommend utilizing BD&A. Clearly, we are very pleased to have BD&A engaged to design the home of our dreams and guide us through the related processes.

We purchased an 84-year-old house that needed to be rehabbed. John spend five hours measuring the entire house and listening to us explain the issues and our anticipated remodeling changes. He created 3-D animated drawings of the "after" images based on his recommendations for changes. We are implementing his recommendations in phases, and have found them to be very good solutions.

I would highly recommend John Ballack when in need of an architect or a design professional. I have worked with John on numerous projects over the past 10 years, ranging from a small bathroom remodel and up to 8,000 square foot homes. He is proficient in new construction and is able to navigate his clients through the most challenging of renovation projects. His thoroughness and attention to detail are second to none. Most importantly, his communication skills are fantastic...getting the right information to the general contractor, homeowner or tradesman when needed. If I was to hire an architect for my own design needs, John would be the first call I would make.
