Interior Design I Project
I could never live here, the color would make me go crazy after a day or two but wow! This gradient is super cool! It creates a ton of interest in an otherwise pretty boring space and allows for your eye to travel all the way around the room and see cool details like the curved shower, curved ceilings, and the unique light fixture. Only critique is I wish the window was curved, that would be really cool!
I find the use of asymmetry with the photos on the wall super interesting here. The use of the big painting on the left draws your attention immediately, but than gradually causes it to flow across the other pieces of art on the wall. Once you complete the wall, your eye is drawn to the patterned chairs then lastly the bright pink contrasting flowers.
Pattern is something I find very intimidating. I have so much respect for those who can confidently use it in a space. The multi-patterned bedroom I think really only worked out since the color was kept consistent with the blue tones, and the fact they were all very dainty or simple patterns. The colors aren’t bold nor are the designs. It is a lot too take in, and still holds a lot of energy but not nearly as much as many other pattern based rooms I have looked at.
I think this is a super cool example of repetition. The use of the same interesting tile from wall to cabinet allows your focus to go to the wine bottles. The unique shelving makes it almost appear they are stabbing out at you and that they are sharp and pointy. I know for me, the first few times I looked at this photo I struggled to get my bearings on where I was standing in relation to the space. I kept thinking I was looking down onto it instead of being level with it.
I think this is a really interesting example of traditionally flat objects like the ceiling and wall being given 3d features. It attracts the eye and makes the room far more interesting. The pattern on the ceiling causes you to look through the entire room as you follow it, as it is one of the first things you notice. The contrast of the colors in the space also makes it very visually appealing and interesting.
I love focal points, I think they tell you a lot about the person living in a space. Typically I lean towards artwork, murals, etc. but a fish tank fireplace is super cool! This is a great talking point, and just overall a super cool feature.
