Natural and Artificial lighting
Accent lighting: Accent lighting focuses light on a particular area or object. It is often used to highlight art or other artifacts. Common types of accent lights include wall sconces, floodlights, recessed lights, torchère lamps, or track lighting. The brighter light from the accent lamp creates visual interest to a room.
Wall grazing: A technique where lights are positioned closely to a wall, either from the floor or ceiling, to force the beam of light to hit the wall at a narrow angle. This angle draws the eye to the texture of the wall by creating shadows. Wall grazing fixtures are designed to graze a textured surface such as stone or brick with light.
Perimeter lighting: Architectural perimeter lights are wall and ceilingmounted LED luminaires used to define interior or exterior architectural perimeters as well as create patterns of light in space. They surround the areas perimeter with light and are not usually seen like cove lighting. The difference is it surrounds the room.
Up lighting: A lamp, often a light bulb set in a cylinder or other container, placed on the floor so that a beam of light is directed upward. Uplighting is a very effective way to dramatically improve the ambience of an space or highlight a feature. This bedroom has Uplighting in the headboard to highlight the art feature on the wall behind the bed.
Cove lighting: DescriptionCove lighting is a form of indirect lighting built into ledges, recesses, or valances in a ceiling or high on the walls of a room. It directs light up towards the ceiling and down adjacent walls. It may be used as primary lighting, or for aesthetic accent, especially to highlight decorative ceilings.
Drop lighting: A pendant light, sometimes called a drop or suspender, is a lone light fixture that hangs from the ceiling usually suspended by a cord, chain, or metal rod. Pendant lights are often used in multiples, hung in a straight line over kitchen countertops and dinette sets or sometimes in bathrooms. These are cool drop lights shaped like flowers.
Sconce: A sconce is a type of light fixture that is fixed to a wall. The light is usually, but not always, directed upwards and outwards, rather than down. The sconce is a very old form of fixture, historically used with candles and oil lamps. These are cute hanging along the stairwell that look like mini lamps.
Incandescent bulb: In an incandescent type of bulb, an electric current is passed through a thin metal filament, heating the filament until it glows and produces light. ... After the electricity has made its way through the tungsten filament, it goes down another wire and out of the bulb via the metal portion at the side of the socket.
Fluorescent bulb: A fluorescent lamp, or fluorescent tube, is a low-pressure mercury-vapor gas-discharge lamp that uses fluorescence to produce visible light. An electric current in the gas excites mercury vapor, which produces short-wave ultraviolet light that then causes a phosphor coating on the inside of the lamp to glow. This uses lamps inside the light squares and they showcase this arises glasswork.
Natural lighting: Natural lighting, also known as daylighting, is a technique that efficiently brings natural light into your home using exterior glazing (windows, skylights, etc.), thereby reducing artificial lighting requirements and saving energy. This room has so much natural light through the window, skylight and light color palette.
