Kitchen sconce, maybe?
Peter expressed interest in 3-pendant lights. This might be a bit much over our small table but I'm adding to our ideabook. MM
This may be more than we want to spend on a range hood, but the idea of something close to flush with the ceiling is attractive.
Photo that sparked the idea of stacked washer/dryer on a raised platform. If compact machines have a height of about 34", stacked would be 68". Standard machines have a height of about 38", so stacked would be 76". (Stacking kits would raise either by equivalent amounts, I assume.) So if a compact set was raised 8" it would be roughly equivalent to a standard set, yes?
A hanging rack on pulleys to keep it out of the way. MM
This is a nook in a boat. Like the upholstered seat and back. MM
There's a lot about this kitchen I like (see all the photos). I like the color scheme and the tile behind the stove. I like the cabinets in this galley kitchen. It's breakfast nook is not to my taste but the layout has potential. MM
I want baseboards. Who know what lurks under the counters?! MM
Using fabric for the back splash is an interesting twist. If the laminate was removable, the back splash could be changed out with a single scene, a mosaic of photos, fabric. It just sparks creativity. MM
I don't think I could relax in this room. Yikes! Make that the entire house. MM
Too monochromatic. I like the textures, but need more color. MM
This house appeals to my sense of whimsy. Specifically, the turret, the rounded entrance to the back (?), the porch and the angled wall under the turret, and the roofline. MM
I like the personality of this room. MM
Mesh doors to facilitate venting...MM
Unique, gorgeous, a girl can dream. MM
Another pretty arts and crafts style light. MM
Like this light. The colors are less muddy than usual.
We liked the banquette here.
I'm really liking soapstone as a counter material. And this built-in drainboard seems like a nifty idea no matter what material we end up using.
I like the design of this Asian-style cabinet in red (though not the color). The combinations of different sizes of doors and drawers within a unifying theme. PH
I like that this is bright, warm, and inviting while maintaining clean lines. PH
Another '50s themed idea, this metal-edged table could be kind of funky. PH Mary has come around to this idea. Now need to fine free-standing 24x36” version.
Got to thinking: House was built in 1950, some elements of that style (like parts of this cabinet) might work well. PH
This kitchen feels friendly and welcoming. Just in terms of ambience, it's the closest I've come to a "Yep, this is the kitchen I want."
This kitchen has a lot of personality and I find it appealing. I like the mix of wood and stone. This kitchen was remodeled for wheelchair-bound client. It's got some interesting ideas (like the stove top). MM
A mirrored ceiling? I don't think so. MM
Do NOT like this style of counter top. Probably just poorly executed, but...still a no. MM
I like this idea better than nesting the pots and pans. MM
Except for the top shelves--cuz I'm short--everything should be visible and that's a good thing. MM
It sure looks like an efficient use of space...but is it? MM
Goodbye band-aid fixes! MM
Another way to hide the paper towels from the cat and I think I like this solution better. Also another example of using drawers underneath the sink: I know stuff is buried at the back of my under-the-sink cupboard at my townhouse. MM
I'm always struck by how pretty shelves and cupboards look when the back wall is painted an appealing color. MM
All this teal blue is overwhelming...and I like this color. MM
Seems like a good way to corral plastic ware. MM
Prefer pocket doors Peter found, to this style of cabinet. MM
Pull-out drawer for shoe storage would allow for more pairs under the bench. Could be good for larger gatherings. PH Or your wife could store many of her shoes here rather than in the bedroom. MM
This kind of division for a mudroom doesn't add any advantage for us. PH
An interesting configuration. I'm not sure how that ironing board fits in the drawer. Appears to have all of the requested features. PH
Another idea for hide-away rods for hanging. If such a drawer was above the machines it might make the counter too high. -PH
Pull-out for hanging things. This has too many rods and is too close to the wall for Mary's plans. -PH
Pedals to turn the water on and off. Clever idea to keep handles clean when hands are dirty. - PH
This (with the nickel-ish finish on the base) struck my fancy. Seems like it would give a good spread of light without being overly fancy or difficult to maintain. - PH
Shelves that extend from the cabinet when the doors are open are clever. PH
This kind of pocket door to hide the laundry machines would be handy. PH
This large canvas will be coming over from my townhouse. Good example of my sense of whimsy. MM
I'm actually toying with a lighter color door so that it would make the dark bronze hardware pop. MM
