I would love to have an attractive view out our French doors. Buster likes to nap in the sun in our back deck too. I also like the river birches at the back of the yard against the fence.

I am not sure if there is a way to make a gravel driveway do double duty as a patio area since we probably have to drive on it!

If we have the space between the deck and the driveway, placing the stairs here might open things up and help connect the indoor and outdoor areas.
our back deck has French doors that open onto it like this, but it's completely bare right now. These big plants on either side help soften up the look and make it feel cool and inviting
Our old gravel driveway had brick borders but many of them are buried or missing now so we may want to include this when we were fresh are gravel driveways.

I've thought a lot about the idea of a breeze way to connect the garage and house, but I'm not sure it's truly practical or worth the expense. Oher elements in this picture that are relevant include the barn style doors.
One of our goals is to make the garage, which is visible from the frontstreet, much more attractive. And yet to do this without spending a lot on cupolas or other architectural elements.
