BASEMENT PROJECT
Love how the storage room is "finished." How much money will it save if we don't do that? Aaron - what do we have to store? How can we plan ahead for making the most useful storage - like these tent dryers... - coats (for opposite season) - suit cases/travel - bins for long term storage - bins for immediate access (holiday stuff) - what else is in laundry room that needs permanent space downstairs?
super cool pantry. not necessary, but maybe we can work towards something cooler? Like phase 4 of the basement?
What I DO NOT want.... This wall is so boring. I don't want the TV cabinet area to just end with no break in the wall.
Exposed beams.... How many of these do we have?
Beth - this is just for you to have in your back pocket for designing a young family home one day. HOW FUN!!!
I want a barre.... and electrical run for a possible tv there.
Love the cabinet/step up to egress.... how else do you get into an egress?
can we excavate under the back yard and add a fancy car garage?
and another
another example of workout room hidden behind barn doors.
Always love a lit bar.
Stella REALLY wants this. She wants to keep it a secret from everyone including sid and louie. Still possible for the guest room? If it's deep enough, could we consider making a stationery section into a dresser built in?
I do like THIS example of the cabinets around the tv. I think I want symmetry....
Check out the gym area (we won't have any huge weight machines) off to the side. Out of site from TV couch. Nice idea.
SUPER cool bar materials.
Another example of small bev fridge only kitchenette
Aaron - is this the floor treatment you were talking about? I really like the look of it, but more for the office. I don't love it as a welcoming comfy basement feel.
So this is what I've always been picturing about the basement stairs since we bought the house. Can't we turn the stair case with a landing at some point to elongate the steps. I know it could take up more space but I think that would be worth it in order to make the basement more welcoming. I really want to consider this.
Just a reference photo.... this is one of the cabinet layouts we discussed around the TV area. Too much wood? We probably wouldn't have the upper glass cabinets...
1. consider only beverage fridge. Do we need a huge one? I do, eventually, want to have a second fridge for extra space but could the be kept in the utility basement area? 2. I also love the tiled wall in the kitchenette area. Really breaks up the look. 3. the barndoors down the hall - how about a french door for our barndoor area? I dont know if we want it to be see through, but we do have original doors (french too) from our house that I would love to reuse. That being said, we were planning on putting some of the front porch windows in our basement to allow for more natural light throughout the basement rooms. How else can we use those window sashes?
Check out the bar on the left - interesting bar concept.... unsure if it is needed or would work for us, but simple and practical. Could move the chairs and put out food, pamphlets or decorations. Also could be used for one round of limbo contest. Could possibly serve as bar AND board game table.
Here's the idea of kitchenette fixtures all pushed to the wall. Easy to work in; less fun to enjoy? But then we'd have our pull out cart to sit at when needed...
Is this kind of how our stairwell will look? Partial shown and the opposite side as a wall?
Love the bar!
Again - lower cabinets and open shelves. I think I really like that better than upper cabinets.
1. Note exposed foundation wall nook- adds a different texture. Love that (only if there is long enough wall that could benefit to be broken up a bit0. 2. The barrels - would be cool to add 1-2 barrels in the aesthetic.
I love the stone bar and shelving space but I'm not sure that will work in our space/look.
I like the look of the simple lower cabinet wall. Two nice decor pieces on either side of counter. Depending on our space, maybe we'd install (floating?) shelves on either side for photos, a couple more knickknacks?
