Was the back panel of cabinet tiled? Or is this a backless cabinet?

Love this look, and always wondered if the back of the cabinet was kept for installation/stability and tiled over. Thank you!

we leave the back of the cabinet off. there is still the frame at the top rear and lower of the cabinet, for structure, but the back of the cabinet does not provide any structural integrity anyway.
