While we love the look of Zinc with a rich patina, this corrugated metal is actually A606 steel, sometimes referred to as Corten and Weathering Steel.
We chose it for it's rust color that matches Utah's red rock deserts and, like the desert, changes character with time. Like the red rock, it's color comes from natural oxidation processes [rust]. With this particular type of steel, the surface oxidizes to coat of rust, which then protects the body of the steel underneath, preventing it from rusting through.
