Thank you for asking, this is a rift oak with a white wash stain over the top.

Gorgeous! I'm assuming it's red oak. ("Rift?) (Does that refer to the method of cutting the wood?) Years and years (and years) ago, I used a kind of white wash on the insides and shelves of our custom made natural birch veneered kitchen cabinets. I covered that with a clear polyester top coat. They are still perfect! (although the kitchen has to be remodeled!). Thanks for your answer.
