The battens are 2x2 inch and are actually an aluminum snap profile, powdercoated with a grain print to look like oak. The backing is also aluminum sheeting powdercoated black. These products continue through the expansive glass to the outside and surround the dwelling. Zero maintenance.... If you are only using them internally and the lengths are not too long - you could use real oak and be clever with the fixing :-)
