i believe the proper question is if i kill myself getting that sealer off can i paint my stone white. my soul cries out why? My mind says no, have you read anything that says stone can be painted?

Lol. I haven't seen a lot of slate whitewashing. I went to Sherwin-Williams and ask them the guy there told me to do a primer but not to water it down

It's soooooo dark!!

it is lovely. if you have just moved there, take heart. everyone hates their firplace at first. once you live with it, it is not so big. i have a whole wall of brick. I want a larger kitchen.

Where you see dark, I see warm and cozy. (Admittedly, I am not wild about the light and bright that everyone else seems crazy about. I have friends who have remodeled where everything is super white and well lit. When I visit, it is like we are being forced to socialize in a hospital laboratory.)
