Stepping Stone Pattern

I want to install something similar for my front walkway. How did you get the stone pattern? Were these larger stones that you broke to create the space between them?
Thank you.

    Hi Tom,

This walk was made using large Irregular slabs of Pennsylvania Bluestone. The way we create this walk is by using large stand up pallets of the stone. The slabs are around 4+ feet tall and 3+ feet wide and have irregular edges. Our stone masons break them down into smaller pieces, following the form already started by the piece and taking care not to make the broken pieces too small. Dinner plate size is too small. The pieces are then chiseled into shape to fit together leaving gaps which don't get too wide. The outside edge of the walk is then saw cut to create a smooth outside edge. Each walk and pattern ends up being unique this way.

    Thanks for asking - Cecilia

I love the combination of plants. What is the yellow shrub on the hillside?
