Houzzers,
I am trying to finish off my open spaces mid century modern living room with some Asian decor pieces.
Things that are not featured in this living room but is on the way
1) an overdyed patchwork carpet that runs from under the 4 legs of the sofa until the TV cabinet; and
2) a piece of artwork to be fitted on the wall above the papa bear chair which looks something like the link below. I will be making this myself by using fabric with colours similar to the carpet of the living and dining room as well as other colours that I can pick out of the living room

I'm planning to add a floor standing lamp next to the papa bear chair on the side closest to the blinds and I can't decide if it should be the lamp Santa & Cole G5 tripode lamp in black, red or terracotta neutral shade, or a Tom Dixon base floor standing lamp.

I want the room to blend in with the dining room.
Please help me out! :(

9年前I really like what you have done! You have great instincts and style. I love the red lamp and your art idea! Go for it!retroearth
9年前I prefer the Tom Dixon lamp. The Santa & Cole tripod lamp seems too light and airy for your more grounded living room furniture.rickster88
質問の投稿者9年前Thanks Handyman! The art idea came to me a long time ago but haven't had the time to source for scrap fabric and wanted to wait for the right rug to come it. Within this time Marimekko circles has become in trend.rickster88
質問の投稿者9年前I did think of that retroearth and it came to me after looking at the Santa & Cole personally in the shop for a long time. I'm going for a replica and if I do get the Tom Dixon I wanted a fabric black shade to create some warmth and let some light through the shade for ambience.April Interiors
9年前I love your space. You are doing a great job. However, I agree that the lamp base is not substantial enough for the room. As far as shade color I would not recommend red next to the red chair. If you were doing it by the sofa you could do red, but next to the red chair I would do a warm shade (a darker shade of the sofaApril Interiors
9年前Sorry I wasn't finished...a shade that has some metallic thread in it, this will create a glow. Possibly in a bronze or pewter color. Good luck.rickster88
質問の投稿者9年前I always fancied the bronze lamp shade by Tom Dixon just a pity that it doesn't give it a nice soothing ambient light as it is opaque. I think I should tie it in with the rug - something like a bronze that shimmers.
What do you think of these shades? I'm looking more at the colour than the shape as I can custom make the shade.

質問の投稿者8年前Say hello to my little friend :)
Of course the space is undergoing a little bit of renovation (was installing some spot lights to highlight certain areas) so mind the messiness.
I wanted a brass shade but it turned out looking more copper than a brass. I'm still overall quite happy.
What are your thoughts?Barcelona Designs
6年前We have an [Arco lamp[(https://www.houzz.com/products/arco-lamp-white-prvw-vr~90736103) which is nestled on a marble base. The marble base supports a spun aluminum reflector via a curved stainless steel adjustable stem, allowing the lamp to offer both direct and elusive lighting.
