8 Narrow Bathrooms That Rock Tubs in the Shower
Not a fan of shower-tub combos or of ditching the tub altogether? Check out these 8 spaces with tubs in the shower

A freestanding bathtub and a separate walk-in shower are key ingredients in many dream bathrooms, but in reality, many bathrooms just aren’t big enough to accommodate both. However, placing a tub inside a shower area can be a great way to get the benefits of both. Check out these eight narrow bathrooms that feature tubs in the shower and let us know in the Comments if this option could work for you.
1. Designs by Katerina & Silvie mixed classic and contemporary styles in this Vancouver bathroom. The trendy encaustic cement tiles add a visual pop on the floor, while the claw-foot tub in the shower is a more traditional touch. Note the two niches on the shower wall: One is positioned at a height for someone taking a shower, and the other for someone taking a bath.

2. Fitting a tub into the shower was a priority for the owners of this Utah bathroom, created by Andrea West Design. Around the tub, West opted for a fun patterned cement tile that extends from floor to ceiling. “It just kind of looks like it melts, and I think that effect turned out really cool,” she says. The pattern is meant to make the narrow space feel wider.

3. This long and narrow bathroom in Melbourne, Australia, doesn’t hold back on style. Slate tiled floors, matte black hardware and green floral wallpaper demand attention in the space, designed by GIA Bathrooms & Kitchens. A small glass partition between the shower and double vanity keeps the room feeling open and bright.
4. Working a tub into the shower area has been a popular design decision for a while in Japanese bathrooms, where space is often at a premium. This Tokyo bathroom, designed by Moriyoshi Naotake Atelier Architects, features a built-in tub against the back wall and a shower area with rainfall and handheld shower heads.
5. This chic black-and-white bathroom in Sydney was built by JSM Construction. The space features trendy hexagonal marble floor tiles with black grout. The freestanding tub in the shower area includes a stylish pendant light.

6. A skylight and a wall that stops short of the ceiling help to bring natural light into this narrow Los Angeles bathroom with only one other small window. A small glass partition separates the shower and built-in tub from the rest of the bathroom. The space is by Bunch Design.
7. Though this new master bathroom in Seattle is nearly twice as large as the old one, the space is still somewhat narrow. Kimberlee Marie Interior Design placed the freestanding tub inside the walk-in shower to make the most of the space.
The back wall of the shower is covered in black-and-white encaustic cement tiles with a Moroccan pattern. The two other shower walls are covered in a large-format white subway tile that mimics shiplap.

8. A vintage door with a stained glass window opens up to this decidedly contemporary bathroom in Melbourne, Australia. GIA Bathrooms & Kitchens used the same terrazzo tiles on the floor to cover the backsplash and half wall in the shower area. The top of the half wall is used as a ledge for storing bath products.
